The heavy goods vehicle toll system in the Netherlands is about to enter a new phase. The introduction of the EETS (European Electronic Toll Service) is scheduled for July 2026. In this context, Telepass offers international fleets the opportunity to pre-activate the service from as early as March, enabling advance planning and operational readiness ahead of the official launch.
In the Netherlands, toll charges for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will be calculated based on:
This early activation initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Telepass’ presence across Europe and to develop technological solutions that support the evolution of interoperable tolling.
The more than 200,000 km of toll road network already interconnected by Telepass across 19 countries is now expanded with an additional 3,000 km in the Netherlands, further reinforcing the service’s European coverage.
The Telepass device incorporates 4G technology and is currently the only solution certified in 19 European countries, ensuring stable connectivity, continuous updates and full compatibility with the latest standards.
As several countries progressively phase out 2G technology, the adoption of 4G guarantees continuity and reliability for fleets operating across multiple markets, reducing the need for future infrastructure upgrades.
Alongside the technological component, Telepass provides transport companies with Hub4Trucks — the digital platform that enables fleet managers to monitor in real time the status of devices, the active toll domains on each OBU and the parameters associated with vehicles.
Among its key features, the ability to remotely update axles and weight allows centralized management of operational parameters, with actions performed directly through the platform. This approach helps reduce the risk of manual errors, improves compliance and strengthens control across the entire fleet.
The ecosystem is completed by the Notification Hub, which allows fleet managers to configure customized alerts related to device status and potential anomalies. Monitoring becomes continuous and structured, providing constant visibility and enabling timely intervention.
With the launch of pre-activation for the Netherlands, Telepass reaffirms its commitment to supporting the heavy goods transport sector within an increasingly integrated and regulated European environment.
This approach contributes to the internationalization of services and the interconnectivity of European mobility, fostering a more integrated and seamless transport network.
