Telepass introduces the new "K1 Telepass SAT" for the heavy truck world

30 April 2023

The new device and dedicated app combine telematics and an increasing level of digitization to provide value-added services for drivers and fleet managers and help companies achieve environmental sustainability and integrated logistics.

Telepass the leading provider of mobility services for heavy vehicles in Italy and Europe with about 90 thousand freight transport companies as customers, has announced the launch of the truck mobility platform, "Telepass SAT," which integrates the innovative satellite device (K1) with a dedicated app for drivers.

The new device, developed and patented by the Telepass Group, combines telematics and digital services to provide drivers and fleet managers with new added value functions and more safety, thus contributing to the simplification of the movement of goods and people within the European road network.

Indeed, the company is continuing its digitalization journey and the launch of the new device represents a further boost to the satellization of fleets, exploiting the benefits of telematics. The goal is to enable in the future integrated logistics management (including in Europe), and optimize traffic, travel times and environmental impacts of vehicles.

The main novelty of the Telepass SAT is the app, exclusively for drivers, which allows them to have access to new features through a single platform for managing and monitoring services associated with the vehicle. The app will be integrated with the device for the management of subscribed services, including the electronic toll payment, already active in 14 European countries - Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Poland - with a total of about 170 thousand km managed.

The app is in fact a true "virtual display" through which drivers can configure and interact with the new satellite device. Simple and intuitive, the app provides up-to-date information on the status of the device and the anomalies. The app allows to set vehicle’s axles and weight and alerts the driver if the payment service of the electronic toll collection is not active in the country in which the vehicle is circulating; it also has a section dedicated to the history of notifications, one with the manuals of the on board unit and the documentation necessary for the driver to travel in certain states. It is possible, in addition, to integrate device and app with the Sales Partner ecosystem, such as to services related to the fuel cards. With the new device, it is also possible to have voice interaction in eleven languages (increasing with upcoming updates): the solution provides via audio feedback, information about the vehicle, such as axles and weight settings.

"With the new satellite device and the dedicated app, Telepass continues to simplify the lives of people on the move and the transportation of goods. The solution presented today will facilitate the travel experience not only of truck drivers, who will be able to travel easily and safely in 14 countries in Europe, but also of fleet managers, who, will have access to fleet information in a more immediate and effective way" said Emilio Speciale, Heavy Vehicles Business Unit Manager of Telepass.

In conjunction, the KMaster service will also be provided, which allows the fleet manager to access a range of fleet management services, including vehicle monitoring, geolocation, CANbus data management, vehicle speed, and many others. In addition, the fleet manager will have the ability to check remotely, and in real time, the operating status of the device and know - for example - whether it is on or off and the information regarding axles and weight setting. This way, the fleet manager can verify the correctness of the operation in compliance with the rules of each of the 14 countries, avoiding unnecessary fines.
