Cesena chooses Helbiz as sole shared mobility operator: 500 electric scooters in the heart of Romagna right away

28 July 2020

The number of cities that have chosen Helbiz to start the shared mobility revolution is growing. After Milan, Rome, Bari, Turin, Verona and Pescara, now it is Cesena to grant the American company founded by the Italian Salvatore Palella exclusive operator's license for electric micro-mobility.

To start, 500 electric scooters will be available to local residents and tourists through the already tested free-floating rental formula. To use them, simply download the free Helbiz App on your iPhone or Android mobile device. Then, locate the nearest scooter on a georeferenced map and unlock it by scanning the QR code located on the handlebar.

The rate is the same as the one applied in other Italian cities: €1 for the initial unlock + €0.15 per minute for the ride. Additionally, customers can enjoy an advantageous flat rate - Helbiz UNLIMITED at €29.99 per month - which allows an unlimited number of daily 30-minute rides (with at least 20 minutes between each ride) and access to the service also from Telepass Pay with 30 minutes of free rides.

The service will cover an area of over 15 square kilometers evenly, extending from the city center to the neighborhoods of Sant’Egidio, Villa Chiaviche, and Ponte Abbadesse. In addition to vehicle supply and maintenance, Helbiz will promote a series of activities in the area to involve the public in the responsible use of these new shared vehicles. The first meeting, sponsored by the City and attended by the local police, will take place in Piazza della Libertà on 28 July from 12 to 21. The meeting will focus on the issue of safety and compliance to rules of good behavior, both with regard to driving and to how scooters should be placed at the end of the rental. On this occasion, it will also be possible to take free test drives.

Many Italian municipalities are choosing Helbiz scooters and other electric vehicles to launch an experiment designed to improve traffic and, consequently, quality of life", says Luca Santambrogio, Country Manager at Helbiz Italia. “In terms of size, climate, energy, and willingness to offer innovative services to the public, Cesena perfectly embodies the model of a city open to the change triggered by shared mobility. Our task will be to support and guide Cesena every step of this transformation by providing the public a service that lives up to expectations”.
