Where to park in Ancona

Knowing where to park in Ancona and what are the best solutions for leaving your car parked in the city is essential if you are traveling by car to the capital of the Marche region.

Ancona is an important port center on the Adriatic Sea and has developed on a promontory around a gulf. Shipyards and fish market, along with passenger and goods traffic, are the main activities. The Cathedral of San Ciriaco, the Arch of Trajan and Piazza del Papa are among the major historical landmarks. To the south extends the Riviera del Conero, an area of bathing and naturalistic interest.

As in all urban centers of a certain size, whether you are a resident, a commuter or a visitor, finding parking is not always easy and you need to be informed about how local mobility works, the parking system and parking regulations.

Discover how and where to park in Ancona comfortably and safely.

Parking in Ancona: on the street or in a parking structure

In Ancona there are several types of parking, which can generally be grouped between street-side parking and structured parking.

Street-side parking is managed by Ancona Servizi on behalf of the Municipality. Paid spaces are marked with blue lines.

Structured parking or barrier parking are underground or surface level, attended or unattended, public or private. The rate is generally hourly, with discounts for daily tickets and weekly or monthly passes, and they are open all day.

If you are a tourist staying in a hotel or bed & breakfast, make sure that the facility where you are staying provides reserved spaces for guests or parking with special rates through partner agreements.

Parking on blue lines in Ancona

If you find yourself in Ancona for just one day or a few hours, paid parking on blue lines may be the most suitable solution. Remember that parking costs and methods can vary depending on the area, day, and time, so always check the nearest traffic sign at the point where you leave your car.

Furthermore, it is advisable to verify that, especially if far from the city center, your parking location is a short distance from a public transport stop.

Blue lines in Ancona are in effect from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Where not otherwise indicated, parking is free on Sundays and public holidays.

In Ancona, parking areas with blue lines are divided into three types:

Mixed zones (free for residents and authorized vehicles, paid for all others):

  • Center, Adriatico, Piazza Rosselli, Via Flaminia, Via Marconi between Piazza Rosselli and Via Dalmazia: €1.20 per hour;
  • Archi, Tiziano: €0.90 per hour;
  • Corso Carlo Alberto: €0.60 per hour.

Paid zones for all:

  • Largo Cappelli, Via Corridoni (from Via Monfalcone to Via Panoramica), Piazza IV Novembre, Piazza Rosselli (station side): variable rates from €0.60 to €1.20 per hour based on traffic sign indications.

Quick parking zones (paid for all, only at on-site parking meters):

  • Piazza Stamira, Piazza della Repubblica: €0.50 first hour (not divisible); €2.50 subsequent hours (not divisible).

In the Municipality of Ancona you can park free of charge on blue lines only if you own a car with completely electric fuel. The permit is issued free of charge, except for the €16.00 stamp duty.

Structured parking in Ancona: where they are

If you need a longer stay in Ancona or want to avoid leaving your car on the roadside, structured parking lots or barrier-controlled parking facilities can meet your needs. These parking lots are located both in the city center and near major infrastructure and key points in the city.

They generally have variable hourly rates, are open 24 hours or nearly so, and offer discounts for daily parking and weekly and monthly subscription plans.

Many are affiliated with the Telepass Parking service, included in all offers. Parking in an affiliated parking lot allows you to speed up entry and exit procedures, since your device will work exactly as on the motorway: to enter, look for the bollards with the logo and take the reserved lane. Slow down when you are near the barrier and pass after hearing the signal from your device. You can check parking sessions and expenses from the Telepass App with charges to your account every three months.

These are the Telepass affiliated parking lots in Ancona:

  • Archi;
  • Stamira;
  • Torrette (Ospedali Riuniti).
  • Aeroporto P0;
  • Aeroporto P1.
