Blue lines indicate paid parking areas on the street, established to manage traffic and promote vehicle rotation in the most frequented areas of the urban territory, particularly around the historic center.
In Aosta, parking regulations are established by the Municipality of Aosta, but the entire operational management of the service (both for on-street spaces and structured parking) is entrusted to the in-house company APS S.p.A. (Azienda Pubblici Servizi).
In Aosta it is possible to pay for parking on blue lines through traditional and digital methods.
The main method is payment through parking meters installed in regulated parking areas.
Parking meters allow you to:
The paper ticket must be displayed clearly visible on the vehicle's dashboard.
In enabled areas, you can also pay for parking through the Telepass app.
With the app you can:
Blue lines in Aosta are distributed mainly in central areas and zones adjacent to the Roman walls, where parking demand is higher. The Municipality of Aosta distinguishes three main parking areas to discourage long-term parking near the historic center (where the ZTL is active).
Zone | Main streets / areas | Indicative urban area | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
Area 1 | Via Chabloz, Via Hotel des Etas, Piazza San Francesco, Via de Sales | Areas directly adjacent to the historic center / ZTL | Very high turnover, higher parking demand pressure |
Area 2 | Via Festaz, Via Garibaldi, Via Torino, Viale della Pace | Semi-central areas and internal roads within the Roman walls | High turnover, ideal for quick errands in the city center |
Area 3 | Corso Lancieri d'Aosta and remaining farther parking spaces | Areas outside the historic center | Greater parking availability and lower rate |
Paid parking spaces on the street are marked by blue horizontal road markings. The vertical signage present at the space always prevails in determining the exact tariff.
The cost of parking varies based on the Area defined by the Municipality. Aosta applies a zone-based system, providing everywhere a minimum payment for the first half hour of parking.
Zone | Main streets / areas | Hourly rate |
|---|---|---|
Area 1 | Via Chabloz, Via Hotel des Etas, Piazza San Francesco, Via de Sales | 2.00 €/ hour (Minimum 1.00 € for the first 30 min) |
Area 2 | Via Festaz, Via Garibaldi, Via Torino, Viale della Pace | 1.40 €/ hour (Minimum 0.70 € for the first 30 min) |
Area 3 | Corso Lancieri d'Aosta and farther parking spaces | 0.80 €/ hour (Minimum 0.40 € for the first 30 min) |
In Aosta, the Municipality provides real subscriptions to facilitate citizens who need a solution for continuous parking. This option is ideal for those who park daily on the street, but it is important to remember that the pass is not valid for Area 1 spaces (that is, the most central streets with very high turnover).
Residents can choose between two convenient options:
Pay attention to the fundamental requirement: the benefit is granted by the Municipality exclusively if the applicant's household does not own or rent a garage, a box or a private parking space located within a radius of 500 meters from their residence. Otherwise, it will not be possible to benefit from this flat-rate benefit.

Zone | Main streets / areas | Main hours (Blue street parking lines) |
|---|---|---|
Central Areas(Area 1 and 2) | Via Chabloz, Piazza San Francesco, Via Festaz | Mon–Sat 08:00–20:00(or with a break from 12:00–14:00 depending on the street)(Sundays and public holidays generally free) |

In the Municipality of Aosta, some exemptions from parking payment on the street are provided.
Vehicles equipped with a regular disabled badge (CUDE) can park free of charge on all blue lines in the Municipality of Aosta, provided that the yellow spaces specifically dedicated to them are already occupied or unavailable.
Exemption from payment is total and automatic for vehicles operating for public safety and health. The following are exempt:
The Municipality of Aosta facilitates parking for pregnant women and parents with children up to two years of age through the establishment of dedicated spaces (pink stripes), usable upon display of the special "Pink Permit".
Parking outside these spaces, on regular blue stripes, remains subject to payment.
Ad Aosta environmental incentives are provided, but the regulations have been recently updated by the Municipality.
The cost varies based on three Parking Areas defined by the Municipality. In Area 1 (the most central) the rate is €2.00 per hour. In Area 2 you pay €1.40 per hour, while in Area 3 (further from the center) it costs €0.80 per hour. In all zones a minimum payment equivalent to the first 30 minutes of parking is required.
For on-street parking spaces, parking is paid from Monday to Saturday. Depending on the zone, the hours can be continuous (e.g., 08:00–20:00) or include a lunch break (e.g., 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00). Large multi-story car parks (with barriers) are instead paid 24 hours a day. The vertical signage always takes precedence.
Parking is paid through parking meters located on the roadside (by inserting coins or cards) or conveniently through the Telepass app, which allows you to start and stop parking from your phone, paying only for the actual minutes used.
Yes, for the classic blue lines on the road, parking is free on Sundays and public holidays. Exceptions are enclosed parking structures (e.g. De la Ville or Hospital), where payment is always required.
Exempt are people with disabilities (with CUDE badge) if they cannot find a space in the yellow parking spaces, emergency vehicles, law enforcement and 100% electric cars (the latter only after license plate registration with APS).
100% electric vehicles do not pay for blue zone parking, but it is mandatory to send the exemption form to APS S.p.A. before using this benefit. Hybrid vehicles, on the other hand, pay regularly for parking, as previous exemptions for this category have been revoked by the Municipality.
