Parking in Turin: all solutions in one guide

Knowing where to park in Turin and which are the best solutions for leaving your car in the Piedmontese capital is essential if you're driving to one of Italy's main metropolitan areas.

The fourth largest municipality in the country by population, former capital of the Savoy dynasty and historic industrial hub, Turin is now a city with international appeal from a cultural, tourist, scientific, and sporting perspective. Crossed by the Po River, it's known for monuments like the Mole Antonelliana and the Basilica of Superga, but also for the Egyptian Museum and, in the surrounding area, the Savoy residences.

As in all large urban centers, whether you're a resident, commuter, or visitor, finding parking in the heart of Turin can be challenging, and you must always be aware of how local mobility, the parking system, and parking regulations work.

The best way to get around Turin is to use public transportation (metro, tram, bus), but if you decide to go by car, keep in mind some essential information to avoid unpleasant consequences, such as fines caused by the electronic gates that monitor the Central Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL).

Discover how and where to park in Turin with comfort and safety.

Parking in Turin: main parking solutions

In Turin, there are several types of parking, which can be divided into on-street and off-street (structured) parking. Almost all are well connected to the local public transport network to facilitate interchanges.

On-street parking is managed by GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) on behalf of the Municipality. Paid parking spaces are marked with blue lines.

Structured or barrier parking lots can be underground or surface-level, supervised or unsupervised, public or private. The rate is generally hourly, with discounts for daily tickets and weekly or monthly subscriptions, and they are open all day.

If you are a tourist staying in a hotel or bed & breakfast, make sure the accommodation provides reserved parking spaces for guests or offers agreements with nearby parking facilities at special rates.

Paid parking on blue lines in Turin

If you are in Turin for just one day or a few hours, paid parking on blue lines may be the best option. Remember that the cost and parking rules may vary depending on the area, day, and time, so always check the nearest vertical signage where you park your car.

It is advisable to check that, especially if you are far from the city center, your parking spot is within walking distance of a metro, bus, or tram stop.

The blue lines in Turin are active Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm and offer four different rates:

  • Central ZTL: €2.80 per hour;
  • Standard rate: €1.70 per hour;
  • Reduced rate: €1.50 per hour;
  • Smart rate: €1.20 per hour.

In hospital areas of Turin (Oftalmico, Valdese, Maria Vittoria, Molinette, Mauriziano, San Giovanni Vecchio, Gradenigo), paid parking ends earlier, at 6:30 pm.

Blue-line parking is free on Sundays and public holidays, unless otherwise stated on the signs. It is also always free for people with disabilities (with a valid permit), general practitioners with at least 30 patients in the paid area, ASL staff on home visits, and people undergoing specific medical treatments.

Normally, during the two central weeks of August, payment for blue-line parking is suspended, though rules may vary each year.

Structured parking in Turin: where to find it

If you need long-term parking in Turin, structured or barrier parking facilities are ideal. These car parks are located both in the city center and near major infrastructures and key areas.

They generally have variable hourly rates, are open 24 hours or nearly so, and offer discounts for daily, weekly, and monthly parking passes.

Many of them are affiliated with the Telepass Parking service, included in all plans. Parking in a partner facility allows faster entry and exit, as your device works just like on the highway: at the entrance, look for columns with the logo and take the reserved lane. Slow down near the barrier and pass after hearing the device signal. You can check your parking sessions and charges directly in the Telepass app, with billing every three months.
