How does the Milan Area C service work with Telepass Business?
The Milan Area C with Telepass Business service allows you to automatically pay for access to the restricted-traffic zone in downtown Milan using the device linked to your Telepass corporate contract.
Once the service is activated, the vehicle’s license plate is registered in the system, and entries into Area C are automatically recorded. The cost is charged via Telepass and included in the Business contract billing. This way, you can manage your entries into Area C without having to manually purchase tickets.
How do I activate the Milan Area C service with Telepass Business?
To activate Milan’s Area C with Telepass Business, you must enable the service for the license plates associated with your contract.
Activation can be done through the customer portal or the Telepass app: Simply link the vehicle’s license plate to the Area C service, verifying that the vehicle is authorized for access.
Once the procedure is complete, entries into Area C will be automatically charged via Telepass.
Is there an additional charge for the Milan Area C service with Telepass Business?
Use of Area C requires payment of the fee set by the City of Milan.
Activating the service with Telepass simply allows you to pay for access automatically, without having to purchase the ticket manually. Any costs depend on the terms of service and the type of vehicle.
Can I enter Area C in Milan with Telepass Business?
Yes, with Telepass Business you can enter Area C, but only if:
- the Area C service has been activated on the contract
- the vehicle’s license plate is registered
- the vehicle is among those authorized for access
Telepass handles the toll payment, but does not replace the access rules established by the City of Milan.
Which vehicles are allowed to enter Area C in Milan?
Access to Area C is governed by the rules established by the City of Milan, which may change over time.
Currently, entry is permitted for Euro 5 and 6 gasoline vehicles and Euro 6 diesel vehicles, and the standard fee is €7.50. Electric or hybrid vehicles with CO2 emissions below 100 g/km (check the vehicle registration certificate under section V.7), however, may enter for free.
How can I check whether vehicles covered by the Telepass Business contract are allowed to enter Area C?
When activating the Area C service with Telepass Business, two scenarios may occur:
- The vehicle is recognized by the City of Milan: in this case, the license plate is verified immediately.
- The vehicle is not recognized by the City of Milan: in this case, the license plate is activated based on the customer’s self-certification; therefore, you should verify that your vehicle’s emission class is among those authorized at Area C checkpoints (to be sure, consult your vehicle registration).
The first time you enter an Area C checkpoint, the City of Milan will verify the vehicle’s actual emissions class and will issue a fine for any unauthorized entries.
How do I pay for Milan's Area C with Telepass Business?
If you have activated the Area C service with Telepass Business, payment for Area C is processed automatically when you enter the restricted traffic zone.
The system records the vehicle’s entry into the zone, and the cost is then charged to your Telepass invoice, along with other mobility services used.
How can I check whether I've paid for access to Area C using Telepass?
Entries into Area C paid for with Telepass Business can be checked:
- in the Telepass customer portal
- in the transaction statement
- on the service invoice
Can I get an invoice for the Area C tolls I paid with Telepass?
For entries into Area C paid for with Telepass Business, Telepass provides a document in the name of the City of Milan.
No VAT invoice is issued because the service is VAT-exempt.
How do I disable the Area C service on Telepass Business?
The Milan Area C service can be deactivated by logging into the customer portal or the Telepass app and removing your license plate from the service.
After deactivation, entries into Area C will no longer be managed through Telepass.
What happens if you change your license plate on a device registered for the Milan Area C service?
If your license plate number changes, you’ll need to reactivate the Milan Area C service for the new license plate. You can do this through your Telepass app or in the Members Area of the website.
After completing this process, you will receive a notification confirming the deactivation of your old license plate and another confirming the activation of your new one.
